At 8:15 am on August 6, 1945, General Tibbots dropped "the bomb". The destruction was incredible. The bomb flattened virtually every structure in a two-mile radius and in an instant the city center was literally vaporized. The ensuing fireball spread and engulfed miles more of the City in fire. The Japanese began rebuilding two days later. Today, Hiroshima is a fully rebuilt city and hosts the Peace Memorial Museum.
